What is the coalition for?
We hear about sexual violence on TV, online and constantly hear stories in the media that remind us that this ever evolving problem will not go away. Problems are hidden, victims are shamed, and nothing changes. The solution starts here.
Sexual Violence is pervasive not only nationally but in OUR community. This coalition is a new initiative meant to prevent sexual violence in Broome County, NY. We want to build resources in our schools, agencies and communities. We'll share information about current prevention efforts, educate/train ourselves, improve our policies, share our resources and start to effect real change in Broome county. |
Current Projects:
- Planning and Implementing the County's first White Ribbon Campaign
- Working with four partner sites to provide targeted programming and prevention
- Working with other agencies doing prevention work to widen our efforts and broaden our scope
- Implementing the Green Dot Bystander Prevention program at selected sites
